Quickfire Q&A

What do you say to people that are trying to make the journey from self-doubt to self-acceptance?

Lan:  The negativity bias we have, the self-doubt, the imposter syndrome, the inner critic – they’re all there to protect you. Negative emotions aren’t necessarily bad because sometimes jealousy or fear can actually motivate you. But negative emotions are like a tunnel. You’re meant to go through them, you’re not meant to live in them. You’re meant to go towards the light and the problem.

What would you name this chapter of your life right now?

Lan: I’ve been dividing my life into four chapters. This third quarter where I’m at is about finding meaning. Why was I put on this earth? Who do I love? Who loves me?

If you could give your younger self any advice what would it be?

Lan: Bet on yourself. I didn’t bet on myself for so long, and because of that, I stayed small.
